Constitution Day, September 17th
On September 17, 1787 the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia for the last time to sign the momentous document they had created. The U.S. Constitution acted as a colossal merger, uniting a diverse group of states holding different interests, laws and cultures. Under America’s first National government and the Articles of the Confederation, the States acted together only for a specific purpose. Our Constitution served to unite its’ citizens as members of a whole, vesting the power of the Union in the people. Without it, the American Experiment might have ended as quickly as it began.
Since the passage of an amendment to the Omnibus Spending Bill in 2004, in every subsequent Presidential term, the Leader of the Free World has acknowledged and celebrated Constitution Day on September 17th.
Today, the veterans of St. Charles and members of the community have united in Patriotic Resolve to defend the blessings of freedom found in our Constitution, Country and Flag.
